Perceptions, Preferences and Demographic Profile of Females Regarding Contraception Choices in an Urban Setting

Background: Being a developing country, fertility rates are high in our country while contraception use is sub-optimal. Aim: To assess the factors and perceptions of women reproductive age influencing their choice contraceptive method as well prevalence contraception. Duration & place study: Mohi-ud-Din Islamic Medical College, Mirpur, AJK from January to June 2021 Methods: In this cross-sectional study, females child-bearing were selected. They divided into various groups based on different parameters. Pre-structured pre-validated proforma was used collect data. Results: Most females, 74.88%, between ages 21-40 years. literate 50.51% had completed matriculation. Majority them, about 49.69%, have 2-4 children. The working status revealed that 74.95% house wives only 25% doing job 85.06% Muslims. proportion belonging low-income group 8.76% average almost similar for middle- high-income group. Media exposure quite study subjects with 92.60% reported media exposure. Conclusion: There restricted reduced methods among subjects. Among those who contraception, preferred short acting ones.
